MAMMA MIA! Success!

Updated: May 6, 2019

Pentacle Theatre's MAMMA MIA! was a smash hit in Salem, OR! SUPERFAN was thrilled to be a part of this historic run of 19 sold out shows in 24 days. Closing night was a rocking dance party show that was followed by an after-party at Venti's Restaurant and then an after-after party at our home. I wish I could devote an entire post to each and every person involved in this fabulous production. Professionalism was EVERYWHERE and in EVERYONE!

As the after-after party came to a close, I found myself worshipping the women actors, and the women involved in this show. First, I worship and adore my lovie,, Kelli Jaecks. She became Tanya in MAMMA MIA!, Each night after Robert Salberg gave his pre-show speech, Kelli led us in a circle of love--we joined hands, talked about personal guests in the audience, and raised our hands in a boisterous chant, "MAMMA MIA! Do it for LOVE!." Assistant Director, Jill Sorensen is SUPER! Dani Potter, who was perfection on Sound, also gave me reassurance and confidence nightly. Mary Ann Potter's epic costumes helped create a visual delight. Lindsay Schuh is the definition of beauty, and she spread that beauty to us Beth Cummings, Kelen Kiluhe, and Anna Burger were all-star women who played critical roles backstage or behind the lights.

One of the most incredible experience for me was to be on stage with the super talented Geri Greeno, a true Pentacle Theatre icon, who became the best Rosie ever. I love Kirsten Manning who was THE amazing Donna. Each night, Kirsten and I shared many moments (spoken and unspoken/backstage and onstage) that helped me grow as an actor, and we also became close friends. When Lisa (Ellie Knoll) took a tumble late in Act I on closing night, her professional-level recovery was impressive. Fast thinking by Ali (Kristen Crichlow), Sophie (Emma Thurston), and the rest of the cast and crew resulted in an amazing "Live Theatre" night to remember! These three friends were the perfect combination.

I was already a SUPERFAN of Emma Thurstion from previous Pentacle Theatre performances. Right from the first rehearsal, my SUPERFANDOM flew higher each time she played Sophie. Emma's sweet rich voice combined with wonderful acting increased my SUPERAN adoration of her. Her dancing, choreographed by Dee Montgomery-Smith and Melody Smith captured everyone. The Chemistry between Emma's Sophie and Dylan's Sky was so genuine that is seemed reality every night. As the Priest when I said, . . .welcome to "Sophie and Sky (Dylan Bauman), and all of your friends who have gathered on this day," it was like an act of worship--the highest form of adoration by SUPERFAN! Next to her parents, I have claimed the title of Emma Thurston's second biggest fan.

So men, I have told each of you that I am your SUPERFAN--Face to Face. This Blog post, however, has wandered into the wonderful world of worshiping Womanhood. . Ellie Bertholf and I helped each other overcome fears of performing with laughter and reassurance. She doesn't realize how fantastic she is! It was a blast dancing behind SUPER expert dancer Jade Allen, in the Congo Line when the Bartender crashes the "Hen Party" scene. Dancing with Alison Fisher on "Waterloo--Bows" was a true highlight for SUPERFAN! I became close friends with Alison and Jen Hass on day one, when they looked almost as concerned as me. It was great to see their hidden talent shine brightly! Besides stepping in as Donna for two nights, Jenn Meyers came over to my house and PATIENTLY taught me the Waterloo dance. She is a great actor and fabulous teacher. Olivia Pereyra stands out as a very engaging actor, dancer, and singer--you can't take your eyes off of her! Mia Poston's beauty inside and out shines every night on stage. Follow her career! Lilla Seitz has super high energy to go along with super skills, I had a blast dancing at the Taverna with her during "Does Your Mother Know?" Olivia Sweeny and I opened the show together singing and acting together on "Honey Honey" at the Taverna bar. Her dancing was always on point, and engaging.. Victoria Wilson is a wonderful woman who radiates love, peace, healing and happiness. Acting with Victoria was phenomenal!

Speaking of worshiping women, my personal religion has just three pillar beliefs:

1. Goddess and Womanhood Worship

2, Kindness to ALL people

3. There is no Such Thing as Hell

My experience on Pentacle Theatre's production of MAMMA MIA! reinforces that in SUPERFAN's personal religion, number one, "Goddess and Womanhood Worship" will lead to number two, and even number three!

My Participatory Journalism project--SUPERFAN becoming and Actor--launched me to fly higher than I ever dreamed possible. Thank you ALL for the part each of you played. I will be forever grateful for each of you. My dream for iamsuperfan.com is to challenge you to unleash your inner SUPERFAN and spread Love, Peace, Healing, and Happiness.
